I'm not a vulcaneer, but worked with VO from the beginning.
I switched to VS in 2010, vb.net and C#, with MSSQL db.
Now I'm looking for a NoSQL database.
Will X# be able to use DBFCDX file ?

Very good news - thx

Massimo,

Yes we plan to add the DBFCDX driver and all other drivers that you would expect in a XBase language like DBF, NTX, DBT, FPT and probably also NSX,SMT and Advantage,

  • Massimo,

We need some time to get the first version of the compiler and the Visual Studio integration ready. In that phase there is very little that you can do.

At the same time we are designing the infrastructure for the Runtime, such as the RDD interfaces etc.

Once that is finished we will inform you

  • Richard,

I am sure that we can get an Advantage driver working fairly quickly. We will ask Sybase for permission to create an Advantage RDD based on the code they have written for Vulcan.

You might have a look at Postgres - free, similiar enough to MSSql and meanwhile a lot of "NoSql" Db funktionality. Plus a helpful, rather big and very active community.

    THX Karl
I'd like to substitute the XML files (local config of the Application) with my old loved DBF ... still using SQL for the main database

  • Hi Fab64,

AFAIK this is not possible. Currently you should be able to use the Vulcan.NET RDD with X#, but not the one from VO 2.6.
The X# DBFCDX RDD is announced for later this year.
